Join your La Vernia Little League tomorrow, Tuesday, October 2nd from 6:30pm-8:30pm for the 2018 National Night Out! Meet neighbors and law/emergency personnel alike, enjoy food, fun and community. We look forward to spending the evening with you.

From the La Vernia News:
La Vernians are encouraged to take to the La Vernia City Park on Tuesday, Oct. 2, and stand side-by-side with neighbors and local law enforcement to celebrate National Night Out, an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. National Night Out, held annually on the first Tuesday of October, gives community members and neighbors a chance to get to know each other, giving way to “neighbors watching over neighbors” and reporting incidents or suspicious activity to police. The La Vernia Police Department, Fire Department, and first responders will host this year’s event from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the park with plenty of food, fun, informational displays and emergency vehicles, door prizes, and activities for the kids. The entire event is free! For more information, contact Sgt. Donald Keil at 830-779-4541 or [email protected].

This year’s National Night Out event will have plenty of free food, fun, and more.Additionally, neighborhoods in and around La Vernia and across the area will host a variety of special events, such as block parties, cookouts, parades, visits from police, flashlight walks, contests, youth activities, and anticrime rallies, including:

•China Grove — 6-8 p.m.; China Grove Fire & Rescue, 2456 F.M. 1516. Enjoy free food, games, and entertainment for all ages. Meet members of China Grove Fire & Rescue and China Grove Police Department, who will offer safety tips; and the mayor and city officials. At 6 p.m., the choir of the First Baptist Academy will sing the national anthem. Entertainment includes a moon bounce and petting zoo. For information, call Chief Mike Winfield at 210-859-2410.

•St. Hedwig — 6-9 p.m.; St. Hedwig American Legion, 14290 F.M. 1346. Hear the sounds of “The Rock Band” and “County Line Community Band” as they provide music while guests eat and mingle.
